Inchkeith
looking across the Forth from Portobello
Looking out from Portobello promenade across the Forth towards the Fife coast, Inchkeith is one of a number of originally volcanic islands in the Forth. The lighthouse on the island was built by Thomas Smith and Robert Stephenson in the early 19th century. In the distance are the Lomond Hills, sharing a name with the Loch and Mountain north of Glasgow, the name is probably derived from a name for a beacon.
