The river Esk meets the sea in Musselburgh a few miles east of Edinburgh. This is the view looking from the mouth of the Esk back towards the capital. Arthur's seat dominates the scene with the monuments on Calton Hill to the right. On the coast below Arthur's seat lies the Edinburgh suburb of Portobello.
