About 15 miles west of Edinburgh, Blackness Castle juts out into the Forth. Described as the 'ship that never sailed' due to its narrow, seaward-pointing bow, this 15th-century fortress has appeared in a number of films and TV series most recently in Outlander. Looking east, beyond the castle are the three Forth Bridges.
