Point of Leith Light

across the Western Harbour, the Firth of Forth and the Fife coast behind

Looking out to the North across the Leith's Western Harbour from near Ocean Terminal. The lighthouse at the end of the Western Breakwater was built in 1938 and discontinued in 2008. Its now derelict. In the distance, across the Firth of Forth, is the Fife coast.

Making this plate I used two aquatints. The first one making use of stopout varnish to spitbite etch the lighthouse pier and Fife hills. The second to add the tone in the sea and sky. I used a wax resist to produce the texture in the sea.
